The Situation
A vehicle owner in Jumeirah needed a chip key programmed to their car's immobiliser. The key had been sourced separately and, as is often the case, the seller had supplied the correct blank but no way to make the vehicle accept it.
How We Approached It
We read the immobiliser data through the diagnostic port to confirm the system type and verify that the supplied chip was compatible with that vehicle. Programming an incompatible transponder wastes the blank and achieves nothing.
With compatibility confirmed, we wrote the transponder to the car's immobiliser and cut the blade to match the ignition profile where that was still needed. We then tested starting from cold several times to confirm reliable recognition rather than a one-off success.
The Result
The chip key is now fully paired and starts the vehicle consistently. The owner has a working second key, and we noted the total number of keys registered to the car so future additions can be planned within the vehicle's limit.
Why we check the chip before writing to the car
Transponder chips come in families, and a blank that physically fits your ignition may contain a chip your vehicle cannot accept. Writing to the immobiliser before verifying compatibility risks wasting the key and, on some systems, filling a memory slot unnecessarily. Reading the data first takes a couple of minutes and prevents both.
